Dec. 30, 1998, the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs awarded
us the Consumer Hero Award an award given to just five
companies, each of which "set the interests of consumers
as a priority throughout the year," according to Consumer
Affairs Commissioner Jules Polonetsky.
In Feb. 1998, the NYC Department
of Consumer Affairs had conducted a citywide study to find
how much flower shops raised their rose prices for Valentine's
Day.
According to The New York
Times, the 50 florists surveyed raised their Valentine's
Day rose prices by an average of 42 percent.
On the Square Flower Shop,
however, was the only florist in the study whose Valentine's
Day rose prices hadn't risen a penny.
We received recognition in
several major newspapers, including The New York Times,
Daily
News and New
York Post.
